In 1953 Donald Berning started out his auto shop with two gas pumps selling Standard gasoline on Main Street in Albertville, MN; currently where the Albertville Body Shop is located today. He began work there in 1943 when it was Albertville Motor Sales, and by 1956 had taken control of both the auto repair shop and motor sales. This is your true family home town business. All of Donald's family had worked with him to make this a staple in Albertville. His wife Janet helped with the bookwork and his children all worked here at one point. In 1976 the auto repair shop moved to County Road 37 with the Amoco gas station where the store is still located today now selling BP gas and a small convenience store. Son Gordy and wife Theresa took over the business in 1992 and their four children all worked for the family business. In 2020, Don's Auto transferred ownership to daughter Karen and husband Patrick. On its third generation, Don's Auto specializes in 4x4 Services, AC Repair, Alignment, Asian Vehicle Repair, Brakes, Car & Truck Care, Domestic Cars & Trucks, Electric and Hybrid Vehicle , Electrical Services, and Electronic Services since 1953 and is committed to continue to serve their community for many years to come.
